Your Bridal Beauty Timeline

When do I schedule my preview? When do I cut my hair? Should I highlight or color my hair a month before, a week before, I have no idea! You probably know not to get a facial the day before or even try a spray tan the week of your wedding! Well, we are about to put your mind at ease with a bridal beauty timeline that is for sure going to keep your planning stress-free, at least the beauty end of things. We will tell you everything from where to find your inspiration to how to keep your lipstick looking flawless until your last guest exits the building.

Pre-Wedding Beauty Timeline

Your wedding beauty timeline is just as important as any other timeline you have for the big day. Having a solid plan for your bridal beauty gives you time to prepare your hair, skin & teeth for your wedding day. These are just some suggestions that can ease your mind and allow you to feel your best for your big day. Not everyone will feel the need to follow this exact timeline, or get their teeth whitened, a spray tan or change their hair. You an adjust it as you see fit, as this is just something that we send to our brides to help them plan accordingly.

8-10 months prior to the wedding:

  • Start your bridal beauty inspo boards. - Check out our Pinterest for some inspiration and ideas. You can also save posts and start a board on Instagram now too!

  • Set a budget for your bridal beauty. Also, decide whether you will be paying for your bridal party or if they will be paying for their own hair and makeup.

  • Will you hire a team to come on-location or do you want everyone to go to a salon?

  • Research bridal hair and makeup in your area to compare prices and portfolios. We suggest using The Knot to do this. The Knot allows you to scroll through photos, connect with artists and read reviews from real brides.

  • Decide whether you will keep your current hair color or go with something new.

  • Will you wear extensions?

5-6 months prior to the wedding:

  • Chose which hair and makeup artists you will go with and schedule preview appointments. We suggest scheduling with 2 different companies tops so that it's not overwhelming or confusing.

  • Purchase your headpiece and/or veil if you have not already done so. You want to make sure you have this for your preview.

  • This would also be the best time to see a dermatologist if you were interested in doing so to keep your skin looking flawless.

  • Start a vitamin regimen with supplements that support your health and collagen production. Collagen will give you shiny hair and strong nails as well as help your skin.

  • If you are considering any type of laser hair removal, this would be the time to start that. You will need about six sessions per treatment and at least 2-4 weeks between treatments,

  • Drink plenty of water! (This is key for nail health, glowing skin and strong hair).

3-4 months prior to the wedding:

  • Try out any body or skin treatments you may want to use closer to the day.

  • Schedule your hair and makeup trials. Tip:It would be beneficial to schedule this on a day where you have another wedding event such as a gown fitting, bachelorette party or bridal shower. This will allow you to test how well your bridal glam holds up.

  • If you are going to spray tan or use self-tanner, this would be the best time to try it out and see which salon/product works best for you.

  • Decide if you are going to grow out or re-shape your eyebrows. Consult with your eyebrow specialist to come up with the best plan.

  • Start prepping your skin by getting a facial. We suggest 1 a month up until the wedding to make sure your skin looks and feels hydrated and clear.

1-2 months prior to the wedding;

  • Finalize your beauty look (including accessories) at your preview.

  • If you plan on doing your own makeup, start purchasing products and playing around with them.

  • Plan on using a self-tanner? Start now to build up a nice base of even color.

  • DO NOT add new products to your beauty routine at this point. New products may cause irritation or breakouts.

  • Purchase a lipstick, liner and gloss (if you prefer) to keep in your bridal bag all day for touch ups. Lipstick is the only part of your makeup that will not last.

  • If you plan on getting your teeth whitened, this would be the best time for that appointment.

2 weeks prior to the wedding;

  • If you are going to get a trim, color or highlight your hair this is the week to go.

  • Schedule your nails and pedicure for the day before the wedding.

  • Start moisturizing!

  • HYDRATE! Hydration is the key to clear, soft, glowing skin! (and will minimize bloating).

  • Get a message (if you're into that kinda thing).

  • Finalize your bridal beauty schedule. By this point your beauty team should have sent a schedule for you to review. Once it's finalized, send it out to your planner (if you have one) and bridesmaids. Inform your bridal party of what they need to do to prep for the morning of. Clean hair, fresh faced and moisturize! (Hydration and moisturizing are a big thing)!

1 Week until the big day!

  • Confirm with your beauty team.

  • If you get waxed or threaded, do this now! We don't want any red skin.

  • Last facial

  • Pack your beauty emergency kit. (Anything you will need for touch-ups)

  • Get your brows either threaded, waxed or tweezed. You can do this as close to the wedding as you please, just not the day before to avoid redness.

The Day Before:

  • Grab your girls and get your nails & pedi done.

  • Shampoo, condition and blow dry your hair. Do not flat iron it or overuse products for this will effect your formal styling. Do not wait until the morning of the wedding to wash your hair either, it will be too clean and will not hold the style well.

  • Try to get a solid 8 hours of sleep so you are relaxed and refreshed the morning of! (No one wants bags under their eyes on the wedding day).

Wedding Day!

  • Wake up

  • Wash your face & moisturize!

  • Eat a healthy breakfast & drink some coffee (if that's what you prefer).

  • Brush your teeth

  • Have your hair set

  • Get your makeup done

  • Check those teeth

  • Touch up your hair & makeup

  • GET MARRIED!
